Sarah Oechsle’s short stories have appeared or will soon appear in Ploughshares, Flash Fiction Magazine, Feign Lit, Bright Flash, Weird Lit, and more. She writes literary and speculative fiction with an Americana bent, and is completing her debut novel: a literary fantasy inspired by landscapes of the coastal South.

When not writing, Sarah works for an equine therapy non-profit in Western North Carolina. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Geography at the University of North Carolina, and her lifelong study of place and its relationship to everything human informs her writing above all else.

Sarah is co-founder of French Broads Lit, a not-for-profit literary journal based in Western North Carolina.

She lives in Asheville, North Carolina, with three dogs and one man.
